The BJP highlighted India’s recent cricketing successes under Sharma’s leadership, including the T20 World Cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy 2025, suggesting a contrast with the Congress’s stance.
This jibe followed remarks by Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed, who had criticized Sharma’s fitness and captaincy. However, after India’s triumph, Mohamed praised Sharma’s performance, acknowledging his pivotal role in the victory.
The term “Pushpa” in the BJP’s comment likely alludes to the popular Indian film “Pushpa,” where the protagonist uses the phrase “Main jhukega nahi” (“I won’t bow down”), implying resilience and defiance. By using this reference, the BJP insinuated that despite criticism, Rohit Sharma and the team remained steadfast and achieved success, leading to the Congress’s silence on the matter.
