​Pakistan’s ODI Squad, Including Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, Commences Training for New Zealand Series

Pakistan’s ODI squad has initiated a training camp at the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Ground in preparation for their upcoming three-match series against New Zealand, scheduled from March 29 to April 5. The training sessions, running from March 18 to 21, feature nine players: captain Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, Abdullah Shafique, Faheem Ashraf, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Naseem Shah, Akif Javed, and Tayyab Tahir. ​

The complete ODI squad for the New Zealand series includes:​

A wicketkeeper-batter will be added to the ODI squad following the T20I series. ​

Notably, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are returning to the ODI squad after being rested for the T20I series against New Zealand. Their inclusion is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s batting lineup. ​

The squad is set to depart for New Zealand on March 23, with the ODI series scheduled as follows:​

  • March 29: First ODI at McLean Park, Napier​
  • April 2: Second ODI at Seddon Park, Hamilton​
  • April 5: Third ODI at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui​

This series serves as a crucial opportunity for Pakistan to fine-tune their strategies and assess player performances ahead of major tournaments like the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
