Barcelona SC Advances to Copa Libertadores Group Stage, Eliminating Corinthians with 3-2 Aggregate Victory

In the recent Copa Libertadores qualifying stages, Barcelona SC secured their spot in the group stage by defeating Corinthians with an aggregate score of 3-2. In the first leg on March 5, 2025, Barcelona SC achieved a commanding 3-0 victory at home.

During the second leg on March 12, 2025, held at São Paulo’s Neo Química Arena, Corinthians managed a 2-0 win. However, this effort wasn’t sufficient to overturn the aggregate deficit, leading to their elimination from the tournament.

In the second leg, Félix Torres opened the scoring for Corinthians in the 40th minute. André Carrillo added a second goal in the 84th minute, which was initially disallowed but later confirmed after a VAR review. Despite Corinthians’ dominance and Barcelona SC’s Leonai being sent off with a red card, the Brazilian side couldn’t find the crucial third goal needed to level the aggregate score.

This result means that Barcelona SC advances to the Copa Libertadores group stage, while Corinthians’ journey in the tournament ends.
