Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have faced significant challenges during the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season, as acknowledged by their all-rounder, Ellyse Perry. The team has been hampered by injuries to key players, notably Sophie Molineux, Sophie Devine, and Kate Cross, which have disrupted their campaign.
Perry herself has been managing a hip injury sustained before the tournament, limiting her bowling contributions.
Despite these setbacks, she has remained a vital part of the team’s batting lineup. However, the absence of pivotal players has led to an over-reliance on a few individuals, affecting the team’s overall performance.
The team’s pace attack has also been a concern, with lead pacer Renuka Singh Thakur struggling to make significant breakthroughs, having taken only three wickets across two WPL seasons.
This lack of penetration has placed additional pressure on the bowling unit.
In their final league match against Mumbai Indians, RCB, already eliminated from playoff contention, aimed to conclude their season on a positive note.
Reflecting on the season, Perry admitted to the difficulties faced but expressed optimism about the team’s resilience and the valuable experience gained by younger players stepping into more prominent roles.
As RCB looks ahead, addressing injury management and strengthening its squad depth will be crucial to mounting a stronger challenge in future WPL seasons.
