The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are currently grappling with a series of injuries to their pace attack ahead of the IPL 2025 season. Notably, young speedster Mayank Yadav is set to miss the first half of the tournament due to a lumbar stress injury. He has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and has recently resumed bowling, but no specific return date has been set.
In addition to Mayank, pacers Avesh Khan and Akash Deep have also been absent from recent training sessions. Avesh is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA, while Akash Deep’s fitness status remains unclear as he hasn’t joined the camp yet.
In response to these challenges, LSG has brought in experienced Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur to their practice sessions. Thakur, who went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, was recently spotted training with the team, leading to speculation that he may be signed as a replacement for one of the injured pacers. Additionally, fast bowler Shivam Mavi has also been seen in the LSG camp, though it’s unclear whether he will be officially added to the squad or is serving as a net bowler.
These developments come as LSG prepares for its opening match against the Delhi Capitals on March 24. The team is actively seeking solutions to bolster their pace attack in light of the current injury setbacks.
