Rajasthan Royals (RR) have appointed all-rounder Riyan Parag as captain for their first three matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, as regular skipper Sanju Samson continues his recovery from a finger fracture. Samson will participate as a specialist batter during this period but has not yet been cleared by the BCCI’s medical team for wicket-keeping duties.
Parag, who has previously captained Assam in domestic cricket, will lead the team in the following fixtures:
- March 23: Against SunRisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad
- March 26: Hosting Kolkata Knight Riders
- March 30: Hosting Chennai Super Kings
This decision underscores the franchise’s confidence in Parag’s leadership abilities and his familiarity with the team’s dynamics. During Samson’s limited capacity, wicket-keeping responsibilities are expected to be undertaken by Dhruv Jurel.
The Royals’ squad for IPL 2025 includes key players such as Jofra Archer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shimron Hetmyer, and Wanindu Hasaranga.
